About

News, tips and information about solar and wind energy, green lifestyles and solar home design.  Suncatcher Ink provides introductory articles as well as in depth technical information about renewable power and efficient home design.  It’s also a place to learn about what it’s really like to live green and renewable from people actually doing it — including all the highs and lows with no spin attached.

How did this blog come about?  My career in writing started with a degree in geography.  This led to adventures in construction and managing a small town general store in northern Saskatchewan. The general store led to an art studio and teaching my future competition in the art world.

Art and construction = architecture, doesn’t it?  No School of Architecture close by?  No problem – I’ll take civil engineering. Beware of your professors – they can upset your career plans greatly!  Did you know there’s something called Engineering Physics and that it’s absolutely fascinating?   Next thing I know I have a degree in Engineering Physics and I’m teaching labs to 3rd and 4th year students.

Well, one lab led to another – next thing I know I’m designing and building an experimental solar house.  How well does that work?  Let’s find out – let’s do a master’s thesis in electrical engineering.  It works pretty well, so let’s start a solar company.

Now writers keep phoning me up and asking me for information about solar.  Wait a minute!  I’m a writer – I should be writing my own articles on solar!

So here it is – my articles on the solar experience and other interesting and cool stuff.

Happy reading!
